Alaka'i is a Hawaiian word meaning coach, leader, or guide. The Alaka'i program is a mentorship program. The Alaka’i Program gives new students the opportunity to make the transition into college a little easier, receive the additional support needed, and a chance to expand both their academic/professional network. Interested mentees are paired up with an Alaka'i according to their major, minor, or other similarities. Mentees are required to meet once a month (for a minimum of thirty minutes) with their mentors, attend a cultural event or life skills workshop, and give program feedback at the end of the academic year. Students have nothing to lose, and everything to gain from this program!
