Welcome to Academic Advising & Retention! Here you will find all the information necessary to make informed decisions about your college education and enhance your overall academic experience with Chaminade University of Honolulu.

Our mission is to facilitate a seamless academic transition to Chaminade University for all first-year freshmen and incoming transfer students, as well as provide ongoing support to continuing undergraduate students.

Meet With an Advisor

Advisors are dedicated to joint collaborative efforts with students to develop comprehensive academic plans that will assist with educational goal achievement that reflects individual career and personal interests.

Advisors provide academic and personal counseling that includes the following services:

  • Assist students in making a seamless transition from high school or transfer college to Chaminade University of Honolulu;
  • Provide academic advising to explain and/or clarify individual degree requirements for graduation to include assistance with navigating the program evaluation, 4-year plan and the registration process;
  • Assist students in fulfilling academic, career, and life goals via course recommendations for future enrollment that reflect individual interests and abilities;
  • Assist students in achieving and maintaining good academic standing by monitoring current academic progress throughout the semester, and when necessary, provide referrals to existing Chaminade University resources such as tutoring by subject matter, life-skills workshops, student leadership activities, and campus ministry programs;
  • Provide personal advising to assist students in overcoming and coping with unique challenges related to individual academic and personal progression;

  • Assist in the graduation process by informing students about pending deadlines for completion of and submitting the graduation petition;
  • Provide guidance and assistance to students who are preparing to transfer to another college or university;
  • Provide information about Chaminade University programs that enhance the overall student academic experience like Study Abroad to include assistance throughout the application, pre-departure, and reintegration processes.
