“Chaminade was a great experience for me. It enabled me to get my education while on active duty in the military. I am currently working for the Navy as a combat photojournalist based out of San Diego. Recently, I went on assignment to Afghanistan and other parts of Southwest Asia to cover Operation Enduring Freedom and our nation’s war on terrorism. My education at Chaminade has no doubt made me better at my job but also more well-rounded as a person. I hope to come back to Chaminade some day to pursue my Master’s degree.”

“I currently work in San Francisco as an administrator with a large, nationwide company. I was a clinical supervisor in a methadone clinic when I first moved up here. My favorite instructors were Ken Burtness and Bob Santee. Bob Santee was quite the character! He made us do Tai Chi all the time in the courtyard. They were in the Psych program. Dorothy Goldsborough was also a riot. She really raked me over the coals while I worked on my research on undercover police officers. Since publishing the research on the Internet, I get e-mails from all over the world … different law enforcement officers, the FBI and what not. I am sure D. Goldsborough would have a good laugh over that! I can’t think of any other stories at the moment but Chaminade is one of my favorite places … I met lots of great people and enjoyed the academics.”

MSCJA, 2001“After I arrived in Florida I worked in the criminal justice field as a Loss Prevention Officer and also a Juvenile Probation Officer. The Juvenile Probation Officer position was the better of the two.
However, there came a question of ethics which hit me like a brick when my supervisor actually asked me to lie on the forms so that juveniles whom had been arrested for a misdemeanor would be sent away from their families for up to a year. With the right frame of mind I continued to look for another job which landed me at the helm of Jacquieline Davis. She is one of the world's top female bodyguards and has worked with many rich and famous. Currently she is guard to J.K. Rowling of The Harry Potter series. I worked as her tour coordinator and booked her first lecture/book signing tour within 10 states on the Eastern United States coast including guest segment appearances on ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX affiliates. During this time of working with J. Davis I was also working on my feature scripts which I'd written while studying at Chaminade. One of the scripts titled "The Capricorn Crossing" finally got picked up by literary agent Faye Swetky and I'm hoping for a sale of a very high action/espionage script. One other script which was written for the entire island of Oahu titled "Hobiecat" has been read by numerous agencies and independent studios. Hopefully, it will fair well with my agent, although the search for any producer is still a daily exercise.”

She began her professional career while still at Kaiser High School student, working as an assistant to the president of The Diamond Co.
The day after receiving her MBA from Chaminade University, she was in meetings to get funding for her company, launching Hawaii Techknow Center in November 2002. Through the company, Ching founded Supplying Equipment 2 Educate Kids, or S.E.E.K., a computer donation program that provides computers to local public schools and nonprofit organizations. April works at the Baltimore City Public School System as a certification specialist. She said, “Appointed as a certified approval partner for the Maryland State Department of Education, I serve on a team of human resource professionals whose primary responsibilities are ensuring Baltimore City Public Schools are staffed with certified and highly qualified educators. My family and I moved from Hawaii in 2003, after spending six years there, and it was hard very hard to leave. However, we have adjusted quite well to busy city life and have settled nicely. We know that no matter where we may go, we will always have a home in Hawaii. The ‘ohana spirit lives in us forever. If all goes well, we’ll vacation in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl (2007) – I’ll be sure to stop by.”
