Accounting is often called the language of business. It is central to business processes. Accountants are in demand everywhere and at every level of the business world and corporate world. An accounting career can be centered around finance, or can lead to varied, vibrant, interesting jobs in any kind of business and around the world.

The major in accounting leading to the Bachelor of Science degree provides students with the theoretical and practical knowledge to succeed. Students are prepared for employment directly on completion of the program. Additionally, by continuing their education to complete Chaminade's accounting MBA program or an equivalent at another university, students will meet the necessary academic requirements for taking the CPA examination.

You Can Help People

At Chaminade, you can get hands-on work experience and at the same time help people who need it.

  • The FAFSA project involves marketing majors and accounting students. Help low-income and immigrant families fill out FAFSA forms, enabling these students a chance at a college education.

  • Tax Clinics allow accounting students to get work experience with real-life clients, and at the same time assist homeless, low-income or immigrant families.

  • An understanding of the concepts, principles, and procedures of auditing and attestation services.
  • An understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and their application to business situations.
  • An understanding of the preparation, interpretation, evaluation, and use of financial information for business decision making.
