Preparation for Baptism, Confirmation and/or First Communion

Campus Ministry

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A) is an eight month program intended for those students who are interested either in becoming Catholic or who wish to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. The program opens during the first week of September and continues throughout the school year to Easter. The R.C.I.A. at Chaminade encourages the growth of each person's faith life through regular worship at the Sunday Mass in the Mystical Rose Chapel; participation in community service and the Awakening retreat; and mandatory weekly meetings on Sundays after church or at other mutually agreed upon times to learn about the our Catholic traditions and beliefs. Each year after much prayer and discernment the R.C.I.A. participants are fully initiated into the Catholic faith during the Easter Vigil service. For more information about sacramental preparation please drop by the campus ministry office.

Marriage Preparation

Individuals seeking to celebrate the sacrament of marriage must be affiliated with Chaminade University-an alumnus, faculty, staff or student. The couple must contact and secure a priest willing to witness the marriage. It is recommended that arrangements for marriage on campus be made at least one year in advance. To be married on campus the couple must go through a program of sacramental preparation certified by the Diocese of Honolulu.
