Special Programs are cohort programs offered in conjunction with partnership organizations or institutions. The Chaminade Education Division currently offers three Master of Education programs in collaboration with partner organizations. These programs are cohort programs with different admission procedures and requirements. For further information, please follow the links below:
In partnership with the Office of Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Honolulu, Chaminade's Education Division offers a leadership program for Catholic school principals, educational administrators, or teachers aspiring to administrative roles. The Catholic School Leadership Program is designed to ground administrators and teachers in a philosophy of education rooted in the Catholic understanding of the human person and the human community before God. It draws from historical and contemporary Catholic and non-Catholic thought to help the student shape a coherent understanding of the vocation of Catholic schools for the Church and the wider society. Second, the program trains students in the skills of good school leadership. Courses in the program address the general issues of contemporary educational leadership and the more specific issues facing Catholic education in the United States today.
This is a cohort program and admission is offered biannually for each new cohort. The next intake is tentatively scheduled for January, 2013. When a new cohort is authorized, all Catholic school principals are notified of a request for new candidates for this program.
Under a partnership between the Hawai’i Association of Independent Schools (HAIS) Institute for 21st Century Teaching & Learning and the Education Division of Chaminade University a new and distinctive Master's Degree in Instructional Leadership was launched in Fall 2011. This program is focused on understanding the learning styles of digital generation students and developing project/problem/design based learning resources and performance based assessment strategies to facilitate their learning.
This Master's program is intended for faculty, staff and administrators employed at HAIS member institutions, although these courses will also be open to faculty, staff and administrators at non-HAIS public, charter, parochial and independent schools on a space-available basis. This program is presented both as an online program using Chaminade's eCollege course management system and also as an accelerated "on the ground" cohort program offered over a 15-month period.
