LECTURERS
Chaminade is seeking candidates for the part time lecturer pool to teach in the evening and day sessions. Specific needs are: Accounting, Anatomy and Physiology, Botany and Ethnobotany, Business, College Algebra, Economics, English (expository writing), Environmental Botany, History, Human Nutrition, Human Resource Management, Interior Design (drafting), Management/Leadership, Marketing, Philosophy, and Religion. Requires a masters degree in the discipline and teaching experience at a college level preferred. Submit a resume, transcript copy, and, if available, teaching evaluations. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH
Chaminade University invites candidates to apply for an Assistant Professor of English position in a tenure track position to begin August 2009. The candidate must have a Ph.D in English with the primary concentration in composition and rhetoric. Must have experience in developing, implementing, and assessing an undergraduate first year writing program and demonstrated excellence in teaching university-level composition. ADJUNCT LECTURER - PHYSICS
Chaminade University is seeking an Adjunct Lecturer in PHYSICS for the
Spring 2009 semester. Teaching duties will include lecture and
laboratory classes in college and university (calculus-based) physics
in the day undergraduate program. Candidates should hold an MS or PhD
in Physics or a closely related field. Teaching experience is desirable.
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY
Chaminade University is seeking an Assistant Professor for a tenure track position in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in cognitive science. This position focuses on the applying principles of cognitive science to the teaching of school subjects, and in particular, the teaching of mathematics. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in educational psychology, mathematics education, and educational research, and is expected to contribute to teaching effectiveness, advising, scholarship and service as well as commitment to the University’s mission. Requirements: (a) Ph.D. in educational psychology or related field, (b) experience in teaching pre-service and in-service education courses at both undergraduate and graduate level; and (c) a record of scholarship and research publications.
FIELD SUPERVISORS
Part-time position available. Responsibilities include observation and written evaluation of student teachers as well as providing feedback and giving consultation during the semester to student teachers. Strongest need is in special education, but elementary and subject supervisors (English, Social Studies, Math, and Sciences) also needed. Masters in education, teaching certification, and K-12 experience required.
ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR NURSING – Spring 2009
Chaminade University will, with appropriate approval from the Hawaii State Board of Nursing, welcome its first class of students for the BSN degree in Fall 2010. Chaminade has secured significant gifts and grants that will enable our inaugural Associate Dean to build a successful and important program focusing upon community and rural care serving Hawaii and the Pacific.
Starting in Spring 2009, the Associate Dean will set the standard of intellectual engagement and accomplishment for the Program and will provide strategic vision and operational leadership to all aspects of the academic and scholarly program.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership and excellence in teaching, nursing practice, and public service. Minimum requirements include an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field; a record of distinguished teaching and scholarship; substantial administrative experience including the pursuit of accreditation and curriculum development. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
LECTURER IN MATHEMATICS
Applications are being sought for the position of Lecturer in Mathematics to begin Fall 2009. This position involves teaching university level mathematics classes including introductory/preparatory courses, college algebra, pre-calculus, probability and statistics. The Program seeks to strengthen its effectiveness in building basic math skills for non-science majors, and in articulating the mathematics curriculum within forensic, biomedical and computer sciences. Coordinates the activities related to the sequence of introductory/preparatory mathematics courses, which includes curriculum development, student placement, assessment and tracking. Successful applicants will have a demonstrated commitment to student success, experience teaching mathematics at the advanced high school or college level, and a Masters or Ph.D. degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related discipline.
DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
Responsible for major functions relating to fundraising and development with a special emphasis on major gifts, staff management and annual fund. Excellent written and verbal communications skills required; RE knowledge preferred. A team player with a positive attitude and ability to lead and learn from others a must. Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred with career experience in institutional advancement. Please submit letter of interest, resume and a list of three professional references.
