Service-Learning, Internships and Environmental Scholarships

Students are invited to participate in numerous service-learning projects that benefit Hawai'i's fragile ecosystems, as well as give experience in the field. Among many varied projects, students have been involved:

  • Counting migratory whale populations
  • Removing alien algae from the reef
  • Quantifying reef health
  • Assessing native plant populations
  • Removing miconia (an invasive alien plant species) from Hawai’i forest habitat

Environmental Internships

We assist students in efforts to win environmental scholarships and internships, and encourage individual research and internships with environmental agencies, organizations and businesses. Students get valuable experience working in partnership with many public and private agencies and organizations.
