If you will be taking out a loan for college, we would like to inform you that recently enacted federal legislation has made significant changes to loan programs for college students and parents. This legislation will impact all students and families that will take out loans for a college education.
The Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP), the system of private lending guaranteed by the federal government used by many institutions, including Chaminade University of Honolulu (CUH), will cease originating new loans beginning with the 2010-2011 year.
Loans will now be borrowed through the government rather than a private lender. The program is called the Federal Direct Loan (DL). For information please refer to Direct Loans Document or visit the StudentLoans.gov web site for more information.
