Located at Hickam Air Force Base on Oahu, The Central Identification Laboratory (CIL) at JPAC (The Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command) is the largest skeletal identification laboratory in the world and is staffed by more than 30 forensic anthropologists, archaeologists and odontologists (dentists). In 2008, the CIL became the 2nd federal laboratory to pass the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors'-Laboratory Accreditation Board's (ASCLD-LAB) International Standards Program.
The Department of the Medical Examiner serves the public through the investigation of sudden, unexpected, violent and suspicious deaths and works to determine the cause of death.
Located at Andrews Air Force Base on Oahu, The AFOSI provides professional investigative service to commanders of all Air Force activities. Its primary responsibilities are criminal investigations and counterintelligence services.
The regional NCIS is located at Pearl Harbor. The NCIS mission is to investigate and defeat criminal, terrorist, and foreign intelligence threats to the United States Navy and Marine Corps—ashore, afloat, and in cyberspace.
