Q: Do we need tickets for graduation?
A: No, it’s open seating at the Blaisdell; first come, first serve.

Q: I’ve turned in my petition, what now?
A: As far as the graduation paperwork, you’re done!
  • However: If there are Course Waivers or Substitutions you need to submit them immediately!
  • You’ll be receiving a graduation packet/letter in the mail showing graduation timelines, cap and gown fitting, ordering rings, announcements, rehearsal, and covers commencement ceremony.
  • Basically attend classes and pass your finals!
Q: What is legal name (On the petition)?
A: Your legal name as is printed on your legal documents: Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Passport, etc.. This name will be printed on your diploma.

Q: How do you know where to send my diploma?
A: It will be mailed to the address you provided in the section for; the diploma address. If the address will change once you “graduate” please contact the Records Office to update your information.

Q: What do we wear under our cap and gown?
A: It’s a formal affair…
  • Men: Slacks, a long sleeve collared shirt, a tie (optional), and dress shoes
  • Women: Dress or dress slacks with a top, and comfortable heels. We recommend that you not wear high heels as you will be seated on the risers and your safety is important.
Q: I’m graduating with my Masters Degree, will I be getting awarded honors?
A: No, attaining your Masters Degree is an honor.

Q: Do I have to pay the $145 graduation fee to graduate?
A: Yes, the fee pays for the processing of your degree and diploma, regardless if you participate in the ceremony or not.

Q: Does the $145 cover my cap & gown?
A: It covers your processing fees, diploma, cap and gown, and 10 free announcements.

Q: How long is the ceremony?
A: The May commencement usually lasts 2.5-3 hours.

Q: Is rehearsal mandatory?
A: Yes

Q: How long is rehearsal?
A: Approximately 1 hour

Q: What are the criterias for graduating with Honors?
A: The guidelines for graduating with honors can be found on page 47 in the 2009-2010 Chaminade Undergraduate General Catalog. If you feel you've met the requirements stated in the guidelines you can contact either the Chaminade Bookstore or the Records Office for confirmation.

Q: Is this Honor Ceremony mandatory?
A: No

Q: What is the purpose of the Honors Ceremony?
A: The Honors Ceremony is a time to recognize both the students graduating with honors and also those selected as the Outstanding Graduate in their specific degree.

Q: How long is the Honors Ceremony?
A: The Honors Ceremony starts at 3:30pm and ends between 4:30-5:00pm.

Q: Where do students and guests park?
A: Parking is available at the Neal Blaisdell Center for a fee of $6.00.

Q: When am I going to get my diploma?
A: Once all your requirements have been completed and grades are in. Usually within 6-8 weeks after graduation.
