Commencement Ceremony Guest Information

Location: The Neal S. Blaisdell Arena, 777 Ward Avenue, Honolulu, HI 96814
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Parking: Parking for graduates and guests in available at the Neal Blaisdell Center for a fee of $7.00. There are no in/out privileges.
Doors: 6:00 p.m. - Arena doors open for elderly and disabled guests. Handicapped seating will be on the Arena floor. Please see an usher for assistance.
6:15 p.m. - Arena doors open for general seating. All general seating is on a first come, first served basis. Tickets are not required.
Guests not seated by 7:00 p.m. will be seated following the graduate processional.

Post Ceremony Meet and Greet

Following the recessional, a meet and greet event will be held in the Exhibition Hall. Graduates may meet with their guests under the signs designated with the first letter of the graduate’s last name.

The doors to the exhibition hall will open to all patrons once the last student exits the arena and enters the exhibition hall.

Please do not bring any balloons into the exhibition hall since we are charged a fee for every balloon stuck in the ceiling.

Blaisdell Center Guidelines

All packages and large bags are subject to search. All packages, gifts, leis, posters, etc. must fit on lap or under the seat. No aisles can be obstructed.

No sticks or rods. Posters must not exceed 2’ in and dimension and be able to be rolled up and put under your chair.

No balloons, tripods, laser pointers, noisemakers, air horns, silly string, confetti and confetti cannons.

No outside food or beverages, including alcohol.

No tailgating in the parking structure.

No strollers - strollers must be checked in with the usher staff.

Commencement is a true milestone in each candidate’s life and that of his or her guests. Excitement, joy, and enthusiasm are expected and welcomed! We ask, however, that all graduates and guests respect the importance and dignity of this occasion. Please refrain from the use of air horns, noise makers, and cell phones so that everyone can enjoy the ceremony as we honor each graduate. For security reasons, please remain in place until the entire academic procession leaves the arena.
