Faculty Procedures

The Commencement this semester will be on Monday, May 9, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. at the Neal Blaisdell Arena. Your presence at the Commencement, as always, will greatly support the graduates and we look forward to seeing you there.

ARRIVAL TIME

The Commencement ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. sharp.  Therefore, we ask that all faculty are in line in the Exhibition Hall at 6:30 p.m.

LINE UP

The line-up list is below and a diagram of the Blaisdell Arena is attached.  We will have a check in list and instructions when you arrive at Blaisdell. If your name is not on the list or you cannot attend, please inform Teresa Fujino at teresa.fujino@chaminade.edu as soon as possible.

MARCHING

Faculty will follow Valerie Coleman (Ward Ave. group) and Lisa Perry (McKinley group) from the Exhibition Hall, across the concourse into the Arena (Ward line on Ward side & McKinley line McKinley side) and wait on the side of the risers for Ron Iwamoto to announce “Ladies and Gentlemen, the Faculty, Administration, Board of Regents, Distinguished Guests, and President of Chaminade University.”  Upon the announcement, Faculty will enter the Arena (there will be someone to tell you when to walk). Both McKinley and Ward Lines will meet in front of Section K and march down the center aisle and turn left to get to Section S.

You will be seated to the Ewa side of the stage in Sections S on the risers.  This section will be labeled “Reserved for Faculty”.  The Ward line (Val’s group) will enter Makai side of Section S and will occupy even Rows 2, 4, 6.  The McKinley line (Lisa’s group) will enter Mauka side of Section S and occupy odd Rows 1, 3, 5.  Please keep open Row 2, seat 1 for Val.  Please keep open Row 1, seat 14 for Lisa.  They will lead you in and out.

PLEASE REMAIN STANDING until after the anthems and benediction have been completed.

When the degrees are conferred, please lead the audience in applause.

LEAVING THE ARENA

After the Alma Mater, the group on the stage is first out, followed by the Faculty group led by Val and Lisa and students exit last.  You will be leaving the Arena by going to the left side (Ward Ave side) of the stage, behind the stage and out the Mauka end of the Arena.  Once outside of the Arena, form two lines for the graduates to walk through on their way to the Exhibition Hall.
