Dean Helen Turner


Dr. Helen Turner is our Dean of Natural Sciences & Mathematics. Dr. Turner is an internationally-regarded researcher in molecular immunology. Dr. Turner has trained numerous graduate students for careers as biomedical investigators, science administrators and academics. Faculty Profile

Internships & More

This program offers many opportunities for hands-on experiences to jump-start your health sciences career. Funded by endowments and grants, these opportunities can include:

  • Summer research internships and enrichment programs at world-renowned institutions. Recently, undergrads have participated in programs at Cornell, University of Washington, and UCLA
  • Pre-medical and pre-dental enrichment/preparatory programs at institutions such as Yale University
  • Internships at Honolulu hospitals and clinics
  • Research opportunities at U. H. Manoa laboratories and John A. Burns School of Medicine
  • Participation in national conferences
  • Mentor/mentee relationships, professional collaborations

Faculty Involvement

Faculty involvement: Classes are small at Chaminade, with a student-to-faculty ratio of about 17:1. No class is larger than 45. Students have ample opportunity for individual attention. Everybody gets to know everybody on campus. We get to know our pre-health sciences students very well, and we are there for them every step of the way. We try to assess the student's strengths, and help them choose a career path appropriate to their capabilities and potential.
