Hawaiian and Pacific Studies Program: Overview

Taro

The minor in Hawaiian and Pacific Studies covers a wide range of disciplines and is designed to take advantage of Chaminade's unique location in the middle of the Pacific by providing the student with a better understanding of this dynamic, diverse and increasingly influential region. The program is structured to enhance the student's understanding of the diversity and value of the different cultures found in Hawai'i and throughout the Pacific, and to place into context the influence and importance of the student's own culture in relationship to the importance of the other cultures found in the region. Students will be made aware of the growing economic, political, and social influence of this region in an increasing global community.
