Humanities & Fine Arts | Graduate Programs in Theology

Admission Requirements

Applicants for either the Master of Pastoral Theology (MPT) program or the Master of Arts in in Pastoral Leadership (MAPL) must possess an undergraduate degree, with preference given to applicants with an undergraduate degree in theology or religious studies with an emphasis in Christian studies.

Admission will be based on previous academic preparation and life experience, potential for success within a graduate program, and personal qualifications that contribute to the student’s success within leadership ministries. Students may be admitted into the program during any of the four (4) terms. Master of Pastoral Theology students are admitted to cohorts that begin their degree work with the summer intensive. 500-level courses and other preparation work can be completed prior to the beginning of candidate’s cohort. Students who are taking courses only online (with the exception of the summer intensives) may begin in any of the four sessions.

Please note: The MAPL program requires courses from other graduate fields of study, so students may need to take pre-requisite courses for the elective courses they choose from those fields.
