ERIC

ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) provides access to education literature and resources. ERIC includes full text of digests, references for additional information, citations and abstracts from over 825 education journals (EJ), and over 107,000 full text ERIC documents (ED).

Access Online Databases.

 

Access

                                                         

1.  Go to Sullivan Family Library’s home page at  http://www.chaminade.edu/library

2.  Click on Search For, then Databases by Title.

3.  Select ERIC.

For off campus access, login with your Chaminade ID and password.

 

Search

1.  At the Basic Search screen, enter your term(s) in the search box.

 2.  Refine Search:

A.  Search Options

  • Search mode
  • Apply related words – include synonyms and plurals.
B.  Limit your results (narrow your search):
  • Full Text – limits search results to full text articles.
  • Journal Name – limits search results to articles from a specific title.
  • Date Published From – limits search results to a date range.
  • ERIC Number
  • Journal or Document – select Documents or Journal Articles.
  • Intended Audience
  • Language

3.  Thesaurus

  • Use the Thesaurus (top left) to browse terms available in ERIC.
  • Explode to find Broader Terms, Narrower Terms and Related Terms

Search Results

1.   Narrow results by:

  • Subject - click on one of the listed subjects to narrow your search.
  • Publication – type in the name of the journal/magazine

 2.  Sort by:

  • Relevance
  • Date
  • Author
  • Source

 3.  An article is available in full-text if   HTML Full Text HTML Full Text, Full Page Image PDF Full Text, or Linked Full Text is under the citation.

 ERIC documents (ED******) are available in full text if Full Text From ERIC is under the citation.

4.  If an article is not available in full text (citation or abstract only), check A-to-Z List.

  • From the library’s home page (http://www.chaminade.edu/library), select Search For, then Journals by Title.
  • Search for the periodical title.
  • Articles not available at Sullivan Library may be requested through Interlibrary Loan.
  • ERIC documents (EDs) not available in full text may be requested through Interlibrary Loan or found on microfiche at UH Hamilton Library.
