Hawai`i Pacific Journal Index (HPJI)

An index to magazines and journals published in or about Hawai`i and the Pacific. Searches may be done by journal title, article title, author, and date. Titles in the catalog are held at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa, Hamilton Library.

Some titles are held in Sullivan Family Library. This is NOT a full-text database.

To see a full list of journals indexed in the Hawai`i Pacific Journal Index, scroll to the bottom of the Search page (to access, see below) and click on the HPJI Titles link.

Access

• From the Research link on the black navigation bar
• Click on Hawaii/Pacific from the drop down menu.
• Or go directly to: http://libweb.hawaii.edu/uhmlib/databases/hpji.html

Select

• Select On the Next Page.
• From the Databases & Indexes box select Hawaii Pacific Journal Index.
• Click on Connect.

Search

• In the Search for: box, type in the title of the article or journal, author, series title, subject heading, etc.
• Specify the type of search, i.e. title, author, subject heading, etc. in the Search By box on the right.

• Refine Search:
• Limit your results (narrow your search):
  • Quick Limit – limits search results to UH Manoa only, Last 5 years, Videorecording/DVDs or English.
• Guided Search:
  • Use Boolean and, or, not to combine search terms.

Search Techniques

Search Results

Results can be marked in boxes on the left and then:

• Printed – use the print button in the box at the bottom of the page.
• Emailed – enter your email address in the box at the bottom of the page.
• Save Results for Later – use the Save Record(s) button at the bottom of the page.
