NoveList contains information on over 150,000 fiction and 50,000 nonfiction titles.

Access Online Databases.

 

Access        

                                             

1.   Go to Sullivan Family Library’s home page at  http://www.chaminade.edu/library

2.   Click on Search For, then Databases by Title

3.   Click on NoveList (under Books and Ebooks).

For off campus access, login with your Chaminade ID number and password.

 

Search

 

Basic Search

1.   At the Home page, enter your search term(s) in the Find box.

You can search by author (last name, first name), title, series names or keywords.

2.   Limit To  Adults, Teens, Older Kids or Younger Kids (reading level)

 

 

 

Search Results

1.     Filter your results by selecting a document type tab:

Author Biographies, Author Read-alikes, Award Winners, Book Discussion Guides, Book Talks, Curricular Connections, Feature Articles, Grab and Go Book Lists, Picture Book Extenders, Recommended Reads,  What We’re Reading, Series

 

 

2.   Sort by:

Author, Title, Relevance, DateDescending, DateAscending, Popularity, Volume

3.   Narrow results by:

Subject or author clusters

 

 Advanced Search

 

1.   In Find, enter search term(s)

a)  Choose a field to search from Select a Field drop down list.

b)  Select Boolean operator (and, or, not)

c)  Select Document Types

d) Select Limiters: Reading Level, Grade Level, Lexile Reading Level, Lexile Range Search, Publication Year, Number of Pages, Author’s Gender, Author’s Nationality, Author’s Cultural Identity, Review Available, Award Winner, Dewey Range Search, NoveList Best

e)  Expand by:  Apply related words, Also search within the full text of the articles

 2.   Browse: by Subject, Authors, Series, Titles, Dewey

c.  Select Review(s) or Full Text (when available) to print reviews, lists or articles

d.  Select Standard Field Format

b.  Select HTML Full Text (when available) to print reviews, lists or articles

e.  Type in email address, subject, comments

3.   Save
