NoveList K-8

NoveList K-8 is a fiction database, designed for elementary and middle schools, that helps young readers find books they want to read and for teachers to integrate fiction across the curriculum.

Access Online Databases.

 

Access

1.   Go to Sullivan Family Library’s home page at  http://www.chaminade.edu/library

2.   Click on Search for, then Databases by Title.

3.   Click on NoveList K-8 (under Books and Ebooks).

For off campus access, login with your Chaminade ID and password.

 

Search

1.    In the Find box, enter your search term(s).

       You can search authors, titles, series names or keywords.

             

2.  Limit to Teens (13-18), Older Kids (9-12), or Younger Kids (0-8).

 

Search Results

 

1.  Select Document Tab: 

        Author Biographies, Award Winners, Book Talks, Curricular Connections, Grab and Go Book Lists, Recommended Reads, Series, etc.

2.  Narrow Results by subject

3.  Sort by: 

        Author, Title, Relevance, DateDescending, DateAscending, Popularity, Volume

 

 

 

Advanced Search

 

1.    In Find, enter search term(s)

a)  Choose a field to search from Select a Field drop down list.

b)  Select Boolean operator (and, or, not)

c)  Select Document Types

d)  Select Limiters: Reading Level, Grade Level, Lexile Reading Level, Lexile Range Search, Publication Year, Number of Pages, Author’s Gender, Author’s Nationality, Author’s Cultural Identity, Review Available, Award Winner, Dewey Range Search, NoveList Best

e)  Expand by:  Apply related words, Also search within the full text of the articles

2.    Browse: by Subject, Authors, Series, Titles, Dewey
