MEETING OF THE MARIANIST EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATES
August 23, 2005, 12:35 to 1:30 P.M.
Kay Stone reported that ten of the faculty and staff are taking the online Founders’ course. Kay will be the facilitator. She plans to invite this group along with the others who have taken the course previously to meet on a regular basis at noontime.
We considered having something prepared on the Catholic Intellectual Tradition for the January faculty retreat.
We discussed how we could measure the “spiritual growth” of the Chaminade community. Considered the possibility of pre and post tests. Talked a little bit about benchmarks of piety. In general, we found this whole area rather elusive.
Began to plan for a talk by John Carr, the Secretary for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, to the members of the PLC and MEA and the Deans on “Catholic Social Thought in the Curriculum” during the week after Thanksgiving.
Bro. Jerry will schedule a meeting with Bro. Ray Fitz during his mid-September visit. Preceding the meeting, we will probably have dinner at Marianist Hall
Some individuals were suggested as possible members of MEA: Ron Steiger, Julie Murphy, and Barbara Bell.
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 6 in the President’s Conference Room between 12:30 and 1:30 P.M. Val Coleman will provide the lunch. We will review the conclusions we arrived at during the MEA Workshop this past June.
