MEETING OF THE MARIANIST EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATES

December 13, 2006, 7 to 8:30 P.M.

Discussed how to set up a joint meeting of the St. Louis School/Chaminade University’s faculty and staff for Tuesday, February 20, 2007. Fr. Joseph Lackner is the speaker.

Lunch at 1 P.M. followed by Fr. Joe’s talk. Have it in the Ching Center or, if it is too small, in Mamiy a Theater with lunch in the courtyard. Send out invitations to all with an RSVP request. Give everyone a name tag with a number on it indicating the table at which they are to sit; intermix the personnel of the two schools. Have an icebreaker to get everyone comfortable. Include brief talks by Sue and Kirimitsu. Theme: “finding our common ground.” Food could be box lunches; check with Candice Sakuda, she always has good box lunches.

Make this event a “big deal.” Have a lot of reminders. Push it at the January faculty retreat. Talk to deans about letting their staff go to this.

Look into the possibility of a mutual directory for St. Louis School and CUH, or at least a link to the St. Louis School’s director on the CUH website.

At the Founders’ day celebration on January 24, lei the two authors of the latest Marianist biographies and the two Marianist biographered (I made up the word, but you know what I mean.): Fr. Tim Eden and Fr. Robert Hertwick. Also, lei the two authors of Fr. Mackey’s bio.

MEAs see themselves as keepers of the mission, not as policeman, but as mediators and advisors, providing guidance in the area of our mission.

Possible candidates for the MEAs were discussed.
