Joint Appointment: Non-compensated Assistant Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii
Dr Wright completed all of her undergraduate and graduate training in the UK and holds degrees in Physiology, Neuroscience and Neuropathology. Her PhD work was completed in collaboration with GalxoSmithKline where she worked in a team to characterize potential new models for Alzhimer’s Disease. Since her move to Hawaii she has focused her research interests in the field of parturition and has held several university and local foundation grants. Her research program at Chaminade is centered on understanding the mechanisms of the integrity of the tissues of pregnancy as she is committed to improving women’s health care and neonatal outcomes here in Hawaii. Dr Wright has taught at Chaminade since 2012. Prior, she was the primary Neuroanatomy teacher at the John A. Burns School of Medicine in Honolulu and published in the field of medical education. Her broad background in several areas of the biological sciences and her teaching experience gives her the expertise to teach a wide range of biology subjects and to mentor students who wish to perform research.
