Stephanie Genz Dr. Stephanie Genz, Associate Dean of Nursing since July 2009, leads the development of the new Chaminade Center for Nurse Education. Prior to joining Chaminade, Dr Genz served as Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Nursing at Viterbo University, a Catholic, Franciscan university sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, located in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Dr. Genz taught Public Health Nursing and leadership at the undergraduate level and taught in the Masters program as well as the Parish Nurse Program.

Also for several years, Dr. Genz worked as a consultant and mentor for the State of Wisconsin, Department of Health and Family Services Division of Public Health, where she provided public health mentoring and consultative services to local health departments in Wisconsin. Consultation topics include budgeting, program development, evaluation, community systems, policy and procedure development, teamwork, and working with a Board of Health.

Dr. Genz earned her masters degree in public health nursing and her doctorate in higher education policy and administration from the University of Minnesota. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

“Dr. Genz is an excellent nurse, a leader, a compassionate and exacting educator, and a wonderful asset to our team here at Chaminade,” said Dr. Helen Turner, Chaminade University’s Dean of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. “Her research interests are in the areas of cultural competence and effect on nursing care delivery, and on the value of immersion experiences in nursing curricula.”

  • Collaborated with Viterbo University School of Nursing faculty to develop a student/ public health nurse collaboration allowing for completion of public health visits in a variety of courses
  • Served as a preceptor for graduate students in the Masters in Nursing Program at Winona State University, Winona, Minnesota
