Eddie Flores and Cori Ching Weston join 2003-2004 Chaminade Board of Regents

HONOLULU, HI, Oct. 9, 2003 – The Chaminade University Board of Regents elected two new members to the Board: Eddie Flores, founding partner of the L&L Franchise, and Cori Ching Weston, senior VP, counsel and corporate secretary of Bank of Hawaii. The 26-member board is comprised of religious, education, community and business leaders of Hawaii. The Board re-elected John Brogan, retired president of Starwood Hotels, to serve a second two-year term as chairman of the 2003-2004 Board of Regents. Others re-elected for three-year terms were Karen Anderson, Robin Campaniano, Bro. Bill Campbell, S.M., Carmen Himenes, Stanley Hong, Wendell Pang, Allen Uyeda and Zap Zlatoper.

“Eddie Flores and Cori Ching Weston are outstanding community leaders and offer important expertise and insight to our Board,” says President Sue Wesselkamper, adding that they bring years of experience in business, education and non-profit organizations.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Eddie Flores came to Hawaii and earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He received a master’s degree of Liberal Arts from the University of Oklahoma. Flores co-founded L&L Inc. in 1976, which has since expanded to 49 stores statewide and 20 stores in the mainland.

Flores serves as Director of the Filipino Community Center, Goodwill Industries, Aloha United Way, Mid-Pacific Institute, Chinese Chamber of Commerce and the Honolulu Board of Water Supply.

Cori Ching Weston, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the University of Notre Dame Law School, has been with Bank of Hawaii since 1991. She serves as a Director for Maryknoll School and on the YMCA Development Committee.
