Phillip Cruz: Outstanding MBA Graduate
Born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, I joined the Navy in 1988 to accomplish
two goals; get a college education and to see the world. After three years
in the navy, I was awarded a scholarship to the University of Oklahoma
where I earned an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering in
1996. I also
got my commission as a Naval officer that year.
After college I came to Hawaii to serve aboard the USS Charlotte (fast
attack submarine) until 2001. In 2001 I was transferring to shore duty
were I found
out the Navy would pay for my graduate degree. I checked all the major
schools on the island and found Chaminade was the best choice for me. I
got my MBA
with an emphasis in finance in 18 months. I am headed back to department
school in Groton, CT where I will finish it in November and head to Georgia
for sea
duty on a ballistic missile submarine.
