Castle Teacher Resource Activity Center Opens

Honolulu, HI—Oct. 11, 2006--The Castle Teacher Resource Activity Center
(C-TRAC)
, funded by a grant from the Samuel N. and Mary Castle Foundation, will celebrate its official opening Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Brogan Education Building. The public and media are invited.

“We are excited at giving teachers a place of innovation where they can create new classroom activities,” said David Jelinek, dean of Chaminade’s education division. “The biggest benefactors will be Hawaii’s students as educators find new ideas or implement their own ideas using C-TRAC.”

Housed in Chaminade University’s Education Division, C-TRAC is an extension of the Castle Curriculum Resource Center. The facility serves as a resource to the local educational community, providing pre-service and in-service teachers with professional development workshops, equipment and supplies to create classroom materials. It also includes a professional library with current books, videos, software, manipulatives and more. C-TRAC is open to the community and to Chaminade students, faculty and staff. Memberships are available for individuals involved with educating Hawaii’s children and for institutions such as private and public schools and after school or enrichment programs.
