Celebrate Kaimuki!
Event Brings Kaimuki Neighborhood Tegether
Honolulu, HI, March 7, 2006—Chaminade University and Saint Louis School, the Kaimuki Business and Professional Association, and GEHCA invite the public to participate in their neighborhood’s “Celebrate Kaimuki!” Day on Saturday, March 25.
“Chaminade University and Saint Louis School are celebrating special anniversaries this year. It is Chaminade’s 50th Anniversary and Saint Louis’ 160th Year in Honolulu.” said Michael Fassiotto, ‘Celebrate Kaimuki!’ Chair and Chaminade University Assistant to the Provost. “As members of the Kaimuki community, we wanted to extend our aloha to our neighbors and fellow residents.”
A Kaimuki Fun Run through Palolo Valley will kick off the day at 9 a.m.—starting and finishing from the shared Chaminade University and Saint Louis School campus. It will be followed by an on-campus fair with food booths, games, crafts, and entertainment from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free trolley tours will run through the neighborhood throughout the day. The trolleys will circulate from the campus to specific locations on Waialae Avenue to facilitate parking and walking traffic to participating merchants. Each trolley will feature a guided tour of historic Kaimuki town. Also throughout the neighborhood, more than 30 Kaimuki merchants are participating in major discounts and specials in their stores. The Kaimuki Business Association will also hold a drawing to win special prizes from Waialae merchants. Neighborhood schools and the Kaimuki Community Center will also be joining in the festivities. Saint Louis School – Since 1846, Saint Louis School has been preparing and motivating young men in Hawaii with a strong college preparatory education emphasizing academics, service, values and tradition. Saint Louis is a Catholic Marianist School, grades 4 through 12. Saint Louis School takes pride in its Waialae Avenue location. The Saint Louis Students are citizens of Kaimuki for most of their day and they appreciate the hospitality of the community. Saint Louis School will be co-hosting the event along with Chaminade University to provide games, food booths, facilities and volunteers.
