HONOLULU, Hawaii, July 7, 2003----Chaminade University’s Department of Institutional Advancement has added two professionals to further the University’s strategic planning.
Maile Alau has been named Director of Development and Major Gifts in the Office of Institutional Advancement. Alau is responsible for the conception, management, execution and reporting of fund raising initiatives. She brings 13 years of fundraising experience which began when she was finishing college as a student assistant in the Development Office at St. Mary’s College of California. Alau also worked for the Nature Conservancy of Hawaii. Before coming to Chaminade, she served as Executive Director of the USS Arizona Memorial Fund.
Sara Platte, APR is the Director of Communications and Marketing, responsible for the development and implementation of an integrated marketing plan for the University. A Southern California native, Platte brings over 20 years communications experience as an accredited public relations counselor and former board member of the Public Relations Society of America in Orange County. Platte graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia School of Journalism and started her career in broadcast journalism. She served as press secretary for Orange County and San Diego County Supervisors, operated her own public relations agency and was Communications Director for Mariners Church in Irvine, CA. Platte served as volunteer communications director for New Hope Christian Fellowship O’ahu since moving to Hawaii with her family in 2001.
