Chaminade Silverswords Hold Free Maui Basketball Hoops Clinic

Honolulu, HI–November 6, 2008—Chaminade University invites youth between the ages of six and 16 to participate in its annual free Maui Silverswords’ Basketball Hoops Clinic from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at Malu Ulu Olele Park, Front Street courts in Lahaina, Maui. Registration will open at 1 p.m. with actual workout time starting at 2 p.m. Participating youth will get prizes and a chance to win tickets to the Chaminade versus North Carolina game on Monday, Nov. 24 at 4:30 p.m., the opening game for the EA Sports Maui Invitational hosted by Chaminade University. Silversword students from Chaminade’s Rotaract Club annually organize the free basketball clinic working with the Silversword men’s basketball team to benefit Maui’s youth. Coaches and players of the Chaminade men’s basketball team work with aspiring youth on basic skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting. Other sponsors this year include Adidas, EA Sports, GEICO, HMSA, Honolulu’s ESPN Radio 1420 AM, Honolulu Advertiser and Maui County Parks and Recreation.

Celebrating its 25th year as the nation's premier early-season men's college basketball tournament, the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational Hosted by Chaminade University features a 2008 lineup of Division I teams North Carolina, Indiana, Texas, Notre Dame, Oregon, Alabama and Saint Joseph's joining Division II host Chaminade at Maui's Lahaina Civic Center Nov. 24-26, 2008.
