For the first time ever, this Monday, May 10, 2004, at 7 PM, Chaminade University of Honolulu will hold its commencement ceremony in the Neal Blaisdell Center Arena. Formerly held in the Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall, the move became necessary as steady increases in enrollment also meant growth in graduate numbers. More than 400 Chaminade students will receive their degrees with thousands of family members and friends on hand to celebrate their achievements at the Spring 2004 Commencement.

John Brogan, who has served as Chairman of Chaminade's Board of Regents since 2001 and has been a regent since 1996, will be the guest commencement speaker. Brogan’s career in the hotel industry has been stellar, covering more than 40 years of service in the industry. Joining Sheraton Hotels in Hawaii in 1960, he was responsible for the opening of the 1852-room Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, the company's largest hotel and at that time, the largest in Hawaii in 1971.He retired in 2000 as President of Starwood Hotels and Resorts in Hawaii. Brogan continues to serve as Chair of the Catholic Diocese Development Committee and retired as Chair of the University of Hawaii's Travel Industry Management School's Advisory Board after 15 years of service

Student speakers include salutatory undergraduate speaker W. Ryan Blosser and salutatory graduate speaker Genevieve Tsukayama. Blosser will receive his Bachelor of Arts degree in English with distinction. Tsukayama will receive her Master of Business Administration degree in Human Resources-- magna cum laude.
