Oriental Brush Painting Workshop

January 24 – May 4  WF 4:00 – 6:00pm
Eiben Hall Room 203

Learn the principals and basic skills of Oriental Brush Painting from Sister Younghee Benidicta Ha, C.D.P.

Sr. Benedicta is an accomplished Korean artist who is currently on-loan to St. Pius X church where she is completing a series of commissions for the Korean Catholic Community. She taught a course for Chaminade in the Spring 2006 and will teach a non-credit workshop for the Chaminade Ohana and larger community this Spring. Even if you have never painted, but have the desire to learn, this workshop may be the key to awakening a whole new creative capacity in your life. All students will learn how to paint leaves, orchids, various kinds of stalks and branches, and bamboo, while more advanced students will learn how to apply these basics to the art of landscape painting. Most important, students will be introduced to the spiritual qualities of mind through artistic experiences of harmony and contemplation.

All the materials you will need to begin the course are included in the registration fee. Most students will need to purchase further consumable supplies during the workshop.

This is a 15 week workshop held on Wednesdays and Fridays, 4:00pm – 6:00pm. Classes begin on January 24 and end on May 4, and will be held in Eiben Hall Room 203. This is a non-credit course. Certificates will be awarded to those participants who successfully complete this workshop.
