Chaminade University Offers Keiki Story Time with Keola Lake Celebrating "Week of the Child" on April 8, 2003

HONOLULU, Hawaii, April 3, 2003 --- Well known kumu and Chaminade University adjunct professor John Lake will weave his story-telling magic for keiki and their families on April 8th from 4:30-5:30 PM at Chaminade University of Honolulu (CUH) on the education department lanai. The CUH Early Childhood Education Program and the L. Robert Allen Lab School are co-sponsoring the story time in celebration of “Week of the Young Child.” Limited space is available to the public, by calling (808) 440-4250.

“ John is not only an amazing story teller who will dazzle the imaginations of our preschoolers and their families, but a master teacher who can communicate Hawaiian culture and language in ways our keiki can grasp,” says Nanette Schonleber, associate professor for Early Childhood Education. “I think this is an excellent opportunity for our education students to see that storytelling can be a powerful tool for reaching children.”

Considered one of the premier teaching schools in the state, Chaminade University produces the second highest number of teachers in Hawaii and is also the state’s exclusive accredited program for Montessori education with an on-campus lab.
