Honolulu, HI—Dec. 6, 2005--- Chaminade University founder Father Stephen Tutas will be the commencement speaker on Monday, December 12, 2005, at 7 p.m., in the Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Chaminade will also present Father Tutas with an honorary doctorate for his work as the youngest of the five original founders of the school, for his service to the Marianist Pacific Province, and for his lifelong dedication to Catholic Marianist education. Presently he serves as associate pastor for St. Anthony Church on Maui.
An estimated 300 Chaminade students will receive their degrees with family members and friends on hand to celebrate their achievements at December’s graduation. Student speakers include salutatory undergraduate speaker Jason B. Tavares, receiving his Bachelor of Arts in English, and salutatory graduate speaker Jodi Lynn Dingle, receiving her Master of Business Administration degree.
