Stephanie Genz, Dean of Nursing

stephanie genz

Aloha. My name is Dr. Stephanie Genz and, as the Dean for Nursing at Chaminade University of Honolulu, I would like to thank you for your interest in our nursing program. Chaminade University is now offering a 4 year undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN). The baccalaureate nursing program provides students with foundational nursing knowledge and skills necessary for professional nursing practice.

This is an exciting time at Chaminade with the recent dedication and blessing of our new nursing facilities, Dr. Lawrence K.W. and Mrs. BoHing Chan Tseu Center for Nursing Education. We have welcomed our first two cohorts of nursing students who entered the program in August 2010 and August 2011.

The program centers on an innovative curriculum and state-of-the- art facilities that prepare tomorrow’s nurses with the knowledge and skills that they need to provide safe, high quality patient care. The curriculum is visionary and includes a focus on important topics in today’s changing health environment such as genetics, care of the aging, technology, cultural diversity, simulation, community-based care, and informatics. Ten science laboratories have been totally renovated to support the nursing curriculum and the beautiful facilities are enhanced by well-trained faculty and new technologically-advanced instrumentation. The Dr. Lawrence K.W. and Mrs. BoHing Chan Tseu Center for Nursing Education is the new home for nursing students and faculty and includes the E.L. Wiegand Simulation Suite and Skills Laboratories comprising 2 state-of-the-art skills labs with a total of 16 patient beds and a large simulation suite utilizing high-fidelity human simulators to enhance student learning and skill development.

Just like in the Wizard of Oz, we are looking for students to begin a journey to become a Registered Nurse. Just like the Scarecrow, we are looking for students who have a keen brain and a willingness to learn; just like the Tin Man, we are looking for students who have a kind and caring heart and want to work with people; and just like the Lion, we are looking for students who have the courage to do the very good and very hard work of nursing. If this sounds like you and a career that you would enjoy, please contact us for more information about nursing at Chaminade University. I welcome you to be a part of this exciting time at Chaminade University and hope that you will consider the School of Nursing at Chaminade as your choice for top-notch nursing education.

Mahalo,

Stephanie Genz
