Advantages of the Chaminade Four Year Program

For High School Students
Considering Nursing:

We accept students into the Nursing Program as freshmen, which is different than most nursing programs. You will complete all four years in the Nursing program.

Advantages:
Less Stress: This makes life less stressful for students and parents in planning for college. You won't have to worry about acceptance into an upper-division Nursing program or clinicals after your sophomore year.

More Focus: This structure allows us to provide a focused, highly professional program from day one of classes.

How is Chaminade's nursing program different?

In many schools, nursing candidates are required to complete their general ed requirements as freshman and sophomores, and then compete for a limited number of slots in an upper division two-year nursing program. There are always disappointments as sometimes even well-qualified students are unable to get into the program they have planned to attend. This creates difficulties for students, parents, and colleges as well.

The Chaminade University program is structured differently than most programs. You will be accepted into our four year program right out of high school (if you meet the requirements and are chosen for the program.) Once you have been accepted into the program, your spot is guaranteed until graduation as long as your grades are satisfactory. See additional information about the admission procedure.

Program Structure

Our nursing curriculum and general ed courses are structured so that nursing-specific course content is incorporated into lower division courses, and required nursing courses are taken throughout the four years.
