In addition, you must meet the academic requirements for your student category:

Further requirements:

  • Chemistry: One year of high school chemistry (or equivalent) with a grade of C or better.
  • Algebra II: Completion of high school algebra II (or equivalent) with a grade of C or better.

Academic Requirements - Transfer Students

The following requirements (for college transfers) must be met in order for a student to be accepted into the nursing major:

Preferred GPA 3.0 Minimum GPA 2.75

Further requirements:

  • Chemistry: Completion of one semester of a lecture and lab general chemistry course (or equivalent) with a grade of C or better. Hawaii community college courses that satisfy this requirement are: CHEM 151/L or CHEM 161/L.
  • Algebra: Completion of one semester of college algebra (or equivalent) with a grade of C or better. Hawaii community college courses that satisfy this requirement are: MA 100 or MA 103.

Students who have completed similar college courses at another institution may contact Admissions to confirm eligibility.

Transfer students may be required to submit additional high school documents or tests to confirm eligibility. If a student has less than 24 college level credits completed at the time of application, high school transcripts and test scores will be required for further evaluation. In the event test scores are required, students may be asked to submit SAT/ACT test scores (scores must meet the high school requirements listed above) or be required to complete a Compass Test. High School transcripts may be used to determine an applicant’s course history (in the event algebra or chemistry are not present on a college transcript) and/or GPA in addition to any college transcripts.
