CHAMINADE SEEKS A PROVOST

Chaminade University of Honolulu seeks to fill the position of Provost. The Provost is the chief academic officer for the University and is senior among Vice Presidents.  The person in this position serves as president in the absence of the chief executive officer.

Chaminade University of Honolulu is an independent, comprehensive University conducted in the Catholic, Marianist tradition, which offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a Pacific Island environment rich in diversity.  Chaminade’s institutional culture is characterized by a focus on teaching, small classes, values-based education, a strong sense of community, and commitments to student academic success and the development of the whole person.

The Provost must demonstrate deep respect for the Catholic and Marianist mission and values of the University; must have an earned doctorate from an accredited institution along with a distinguished record of achievements in teaching, scholarship and service;  broad-based experience and leadership in academic administration and financial management, preferably at the dean's level or above; demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity and global education; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the many constituencies including, but not limited to, board members, administrators, faculty and students; a record of support for teaching excellence, professional development and scholarly activity; evidence of a successful experience with information technology for academic programming and for administrative purposes; understanding of the essential values of academic integrity and civility in a collegial community of learners and scholars.  Ideally, the Provost will have had experience leading successful academic accreditation efforts.
