  • These programs are designed to provide students with the extra help they need to succeed in school. Participating students are in kindergarten through grade 5 and have either solicited extra help on their own, or have been asked by the faculty to attend .
  • Many of Pālolo El's keiki are challenged by poverty, cultural & linguistic differences, and a lack of preparation for learning in the state educational system
  • The program’s kids excelled at state Chess and speech competitions! They wish to expand activities to incorporate dance and musical instruments.
  • Pālolo El strives to keep meeting the state’s standards in math & reading.

Location: 2106 10th Avenue, Honolulu, HI 96816. Check in at the Main Office for all activities.

For Chaminade students enrolled in MATH 107

You may sign up for any of the options described above (during and after school), as long as you are helping the keiki with math. An additional option is for you to engage the students in fun math activities after school (2:10pm - 3:15pm).

You can develop games and use materials to teach math in a FUN way, such as "Fun with Fractions," or "Multiplication Challenge Day."

To fulfill your service-learning hours, you must plan and execute 3 sessions during the semester.
Write up your idea and your proposed dates, and submit the proposal to Principal Reid Kuba at Reid_Kuba@notes.k12.hi.us.

If you have never done service-learning at Palolo Elementary, you will first need to attend one of the pre-scheduled training sessions.
