Involvement Opportunities

At Chaminade, each student is encouraged to pursue interests and experiences beyond the classroom. Whether you are full-time or part-time, a commuter or residential student, there is always a variety of events and activities to choose from during the noon and evening hours. Involvement in these extra-curricular experiences will help you to learn more about yourself, others and the Chaminade community.

So attend a cultural performance, sign up for Experience Hawaii, be a part of an intramural sports team, participate at a service project or go to a musical performance at the courtyard. And whatever you choose, invite your friends and classmates. OSAL is here to connect you and make your collegiate years exhilarating and educational. Be involved and start shaping your Chaminade experience today!

CAMPUS ACTIVITIES
There is a diversity of events available to the University community. Remember, students who are involved and connected to the University often do well academically. So make time for extra-curricular events by selecting from the many choices below: For up-to-date information of fall and spring programs, refer to the University's Main Calendar.

Community Programs are campus-wide events open to students, faculty and staff. Sponsored by other campus departments (like Student Support Services, Career Services, AAP, Athletics, Aramark), these activities promote spirit and foster community ties at Chaminade and the greater community. Look out for flyers and ads for more details during the semester or contact OSAL.

Welcome Week is a comprehensive week of festivities at the beginning of each academic semester. This program is designed to introduce new and reconnect returning students to the people, departments, programs, and services available at Chaminade. In addition, we have created extra-curricular activities (like a University Picnic, concerts, movie night, paddling lessons, etc.) for students, faculty and staff to promote community and shared experiences.

Co-curricular Speaker Series seek to engage community members in discussions surrounding topics such as civil rights, women’s movement, healthy relationships and lifestyles, and so forth. By collaborating with academic departments, we are able to bring in community leaders, activists, educators and artists whose life experiences and messages empower others to serve. In the past, we have done this when celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month, Women’s History Month and many more. Look out for flyers and ads for more details during the semester or contact OSAL.

Breakaways are experiences that will happen once during the academic year. They are fun, short and worthwhile adventures that will expose you to activities such as bowling, theatre, museums and skating. Go off-campus, meet new people or learn something new. All breakaways are free to students and include transportation—seating is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Look out for flyers and ads for more details during the semester.
