Chaminade is happy to introduce our new ESL/International Student program.
The Chaminade English as a Second Language Program (ESL) is intended to improve English proficiency for incoming international students in order to fully prepare them for our college level courses. This program is available to students who identify any language other than English as their primary language and demonstrate the ability to succeed in college after intensive English preparation. Components of our program help students master conversation, listening, reading, writing, and English grammar. We offer small class sizes and the opportunity for individualized instruction.
Students enrolled in our ESL program have the option to live in university residence halls. Students are fully immersed in the Chaminade community and will have many opportunities to practice conversational English.
The campus community provides a variety of extracurricular activities, including over 30 student clubs and organizations, residential life activities, athletic events and campus ministry events and retreats. In addition, the city of Honolulu and the island of Oahu provide many attractions, which visitors from all over the world enjoy. For more information about living on campus, see these pages.
Our campus is located above downtown Honolulu and Waikiki. Students enjoy a quiet atmosphere with 24-hour security that ensures a safe community on campus. In general, the campus has a nurturing, supportive atmosphere. We are concerned about our students’ needs, and our university has a tradition of respect for all cultures and beliefs.
