Laptops are available to Chaminade students, faculty and staff for use in the library only. Priority will be given for academic use of the laptops. Borrower must be a currently registered student or employee of Chaminade University and must present valid CUH identification, including photo ID.
Laptops will be loaned for a three-hour period on a first-come, first-served basis, one renewal if other laptops are available, and will be subject to a late fine of $5.00 per hour or fraction thereof. Laptops may not be reserved in advance.
The following supplements the University’s Authorized Use of Technology Systems policy which can be found in the Web Portal under Campus Community Policies Volume II, Section 2.9
Users are expected to know how to use the laptop, as well as the software applications and should refer to the software help sections for assistance with software-related questions.
Wireless internet access is available in the library. Problems with hardware or internet access should be reported to an attendant at the circulation desk.
User must not install, copy or use any software in violation of the copyright holder’s licensing terms.
User must save work to diskette, CDR, flash drive or email account, as all documents left on the laptop will be deleted. All files are unrecoverable after unit is powered down. The library will not be responsible for lost or damaged work.
User is solely responsible for the laptop, including the AC adaptor and modular drives. User will be billed for repair or replacement costs, as well as processing fees, if the unit is damaged, stolen or not returned while it is charged to his/her account.
