Volunteers Bring Tax Preparation Services to Makiki

Chaminade Students Recognized

Published in Representative Della Au Belatti's District 25 Newsletter, February 2009. Professor Wayne Tanna writes: "All volunteers at the first outreach that was done at the Fernhurst YWCA were from [Professor Wayne Tanna's] AC306 (Undergraduate Tax Concepts) and MBA778 (Corporate and Partnership Tax) classes at Chaminade.

Also, three of the undergradauate tax class students will be presenting the overall tax clinic project (working poor homeless and limited English profiency clients) at the annual Hawaii State Service-Learning Conference at Kamehameha Schools on March 7, 2009. The same three students will be making a similar presentation at the Hyatt Regency on March 25, 2009 as the Students in Free Enterprise Team (SIFE) from Chaminade. Furthermore, SIFE is an international organization that mobilizes university students around the world (over 1500 universities in 45 countries) to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills to become socially responsible business leaders. The event on March 25, 2009 is the regional exposition and the overall event winner will represent the region in the SIFE national competition in Philladelpha in May."

Thank you to Wayne Tanna for supporting the tax clinic project and our students.
